Q. How do I register my boat with the State of  Ohio?
A. OH Watercraft Registration  to register your Ohio boat or watercraft. You may have to visit a Boat Registration agent or local office (listed on the Ohio watercraft registration site.)

Q. How do I know what my registration numbers are?
A. Once you have registered your boat or watercraft with the State of Ohio, you will receive your registration documents. Your registration numbers will be indicated on your paper registration. A. The State of Ohio has specific rules about the style of the letters. According to the state, “The “OH” numbers are assigned by Ohio DNR Watercraft, but it is the boat owner’s responsibility to display those numbers correctly. They can be decals or painted on — as long as they are 3 inches high, block letters (nothing fancy), all one color that contrasts to the color of the boat, and clearly legible.

Q. I’d like to have some fancy numbers, with shading and multiple colors, like in the boat store catalog. Can you do those?

Below are the requirements as they appear on the State of Ohio DNR.

Watercraft – Registration Requirements

Titles show proof of ownership and are required for all boats 14 feet or greater, outboard motors 10HP or greater, and PWCs (ie. Jetski, Sea-Doo, etc.). For those boats that require a title, the title must be an Ohio title in order to get an Ohio registration. Canoes and kayaks do not need to be titled.
