How do you choose fonts and colors for Michigan MC Numbers that match your hull? I will start this by saying MOST boat owners choose black numbers for their white hulls, but if you want to be less conventional or add more color combos, here are my recommendations for boat registration number sticker color combos:
You want to contrast the TONE of your boat’s hull with vinyl color. The more even the tone (e.g. a blue boat with a blue sticker) the harder it will be to read (and you might get pulled over by your local authorities.) If the tone has a lot of contrast, e.g. black and white being the MOST contrast of all, you’re fine. But you don’t have to choose just black.
If your boat hull is white, you can choose almost any color we sell EXCEPT white and silver carbon fiber.
Storm blue
Marine blue
Cobalt Blue
Light Blue
Red
matte black
Dark Gray Carbon Fiber
Green
Orange
If your boat hull is black (or dark gray or dark camo)
Light blue
Yellow
White
Silver Carbon Fiber
Red
Orange
Silver gray metallic
If your boat is a mid tone color (e.g. blue but not dark blue)
Yellow
White
Silver Carbon Fiber
Storm blue
Orange
Silver gray metallic
If your boat is red:
Yellow
White
Silver Carbon Fiber
Silver gray Metallic
Storm blue
Black
If your boat is green or lighter camo green:
White
Yellow
Silver Carbon Fiber
Storm Blue
Black
You have a lot of options – in general colors that are the opposites of each other will contrast well. And you don’t just have to choose black if you have a white hull – you have a lot of great options with contrast and personality. AND even better, our boat names also can coordinate (match or coordinate) with your boat numbers.
